December Service Challenge

  • Tuesday, December 01, 2020

Its time for our 4th Service at Home Challenge! This month we will be focusing on Positivity.  Positivity means thinking in an optimistic way, focusing on making life happier and paying attention to the good in people and situations.

The Holiday Season is upon us and since this year has been so unusual, lets finish it by spreading positivity all around us!

I am challenging everyone to perform as many random acts of kindness as they can by December 25th.

Cut strips of paper and add them together to create a paper chain.  You can add one link for every random act of kindness you perform.  Be sneaky! Don't let anyone see you do it! Encourage your family to participate.  Everyone can have their own chain of "good deeds" and you can make it a friendly competition to see who can create the longest Kindness chain during the month of December.  On Christmas Eve or on New Year's Eve, link all of the chains you have made together and decorate your home with them.  You can wrap them around your tree, if you have one, or drape them across your fireplace mantle or a doorway in your home.

Need some ideas?

  • (for kids) clean up a room in your home that isn't your own bedroom
  • do a household chore
  • give someone a compliment
  • hold the door for a stranger
  • pay for someone's coffee
  • put coins in an expired parking meter
  • let someone cut in front of you in line
  • Give a big tip to a delivery driver or server
  • pick up a piece of litter
  • donate flowers to a nursing home
  • Keep snacks in your car to hand out to the homeless
  • slow down and let someone merge in front of you in traffic
