"The War on Drugs: Victories(?), Defeats and Alternatives" -- Boe Meyerson, Leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County, NJ

Chaplain Boe Meyerson is the Leader of the Ethical Culture Society in Maplewood, NJ and is the Ethical Humanist Chaplain at Columbia University. She previously worked in New Jersey's criminal justice system supervising both Juveniles and adult offenders, many of whom were either addicted to illegal drugs or to the easy money gained from selling them. She holds a MA in Philosophy from Columbia University where she previously taught Humanities. She is also a Family Therapist.

Boe will discuss the purpose, history and results of the so called "War on Drugs." Emphasis will be on the yawning gap between intention and accomplishment. However, most of the discussion will focus on the disastrous unintended consequences of the effort. Alternatives will be presented.
