How the World Can Respond to Africa's Development Problems

Julius E. Coles, President of Africare [1]

Over the course of its 37-year existence, Africare has become a leader among private charitable U.S. organizations assisting Africa. President Coles will discuss the numerous obstacles facing African development including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, inadequate crop production, overpopulation, and political instability. Mr. Coles will discuss the role of the outside world in assisting Africa to deal with these problems, including Africare's approach to empowering local people to solve their problems.

Supporting Africare [2] is an annual project of the Northern Virginia Ethical Society. A collection will be taken to benefit Africare.
