MEMBER SUPPORT COMMITTEE Definition

Current members: Leader, President, Treasurer, Chair of Caring Committee, Chair of Ethical Action Committee
This is intended as a guide for NoVES committees, teams, and task forces. In most cases it refers to skills and responsibilities of the committee as a whole, not of individuals.

 Skills needed: Empathy.
Understanding of Ethical Culture values.
Financial hardheadedness.
Negotiation skills.
Confidentiality.
 Responsibilities: Decide on use of member support funds (a restricted fund) to assist a member in need.
Distribute funds according to Society policy, respecting current IRS policies and requirements.
Engage in frank dialog.
Maintain confidentiality concerning names and amounts.
Periodically communicate to members the existence of the fund and how to contribute.
Meet at least annually to review size of member support funds.
 Member Term: As long as member holds one of the qualifying positions.
 Measurement of Success: NoVES members in need are appropriately assisted.
Maintain a sufficient amount in the fund to be able to provide some assistance to members.
