Those who founded our Society did not claim to be themselves better than their fellows. But they had the feeling that the moral end is a holy thing. Despite many actual moral failures in living, our worth consists of striving toward that moral end. In the last analysis it is this moral striving that makes life worthwhile. Moral striving is what makes us human.
