BOOK TABLE COMMITTEE Definition

This is intended as a guide for NoVES committees, teams, and task forces. In most cases it refers to skills and responsibilities of the committee as a whole, not of individuals.

 Skills needed: Is organized and reliable.
Is interested in, and somewhat knowledgeable about, Ethical Culture.
Good communication and listening skills.
 Responsibilities: Stays attuned to interests of NoVES members.
Brings 20-40 books to NoVES platforms about half the time and sets up at least 15 minutes before platform. Allows time after platform for people to browse selections.
Sets up and cleans approximately 50-60 books and other items (jewelry, pins, etc.)
Engages visitors socially and explains the books or other items.
Keeps records of book table expenditures and intake.
Obtains materials suitable for newcomers to learn about Ethical Culture and also materials complementary to Society programs (Platforms, courses).
Refreshes selections every two years.
 Member Term: No term limits.
 Measurement of Success: Compared to the past, and taking into account economic factors and variations in donations, book sales remain generally steady or increase.
Friendly presence to newcomers measured by their presence around book table and feedback.
