2013, 08/27 We are getting ready for Sunday School! Are you?
.
My two kids headed back to school on Monday. For those of you in Virginia, you still have a few days to enjoy your summer, but I am in full fall mode right now. I'm even doing harvest canning!

Mostly though, since the kids have gotten from underfoot and the house has gotten quiet, I have been getting things ready for fall and the opening of Sunday School. My goodness! We have a very exciting and full year planned!

First, let me tell you about the courses. You can find them all listed and described here. For all of our classes, we rotate at least two teachers and the younger two classes have assistants to help with our movement activities and craft projects. We will also be having twice monthly children's chorus rehearsals so that they can perform at each of our 3 festivals.

And then there are projects for the year. Remember, our motto is Deed Before Creed and we mean it! I am so, so, so excited about what we will be doing this year for service projects. This year we decided to plan on four big projects and several smaller ones. Our larger projects will be: supporting Kakenya's Dream, and like last year: 12 days of service, a stream clean-up,  and a month long of Every Day is Earth Day project. Our smaller, but also important projects will be: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, donating canned goods, donating warm winter outer clothes, and making Mother's Day and Father's Day super duper special.

Doesn't this all sound so fun and cool? Want to join in or get a head start? Go ahead and fill out a Sunday School Registration form and plan to join us on September 15th.

The first few weeks we are full of activities for Sunday School. Classes start on September 15th with a Welcome Back party and a meet and greet the teachers event. On September 22nd after platform we will have Summer Pals Party to conclude that summer long program. Then on September 29th we will close our Time Capsule and then I, the director of religious education, will give a platform talk about our Sunday School and it's importance. We follow that up with the Parent Meeting on October 6th after platform.
